COM 09 : COMMUNICATION AND WORKPLACE CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Duration: 5 DAYS
COST: Kshs. 30,000
Dates:
COURSE ABSTRACT:
Conflicts tend to be hidden. But they either consume resources needed to make products or interfere with services available to clients and customers. Costs include the following: overhead increases, litigation, mounting health care claims, quality defects, pilferage, espionage, and the cost opportunities of all these unproductive expenses. Not included here are indirect costs. Taking a theoretical and practical analysis of the outcome of conflict, the course shows how communication can be used to resolve issues arriving at collaborative solutions, the favoured approach in many industrial situations. In both transactional and transformational approaches to organisational leadership, this is necessary. Besides exposing the hidden consequences of workplace conflict, the course charts out various methods of conflict resolution available to those involved. These include the role communication can play in the best method - prevention - which is always better than cure.
