COURSE ABSTRACT:

Since 2000, there is a growing interest on environmental management in Kenya following enactment of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA, 1999) through which Kenya was enlisted among the countries of the world which are enforcing legislations for protection and safeguarding of the environment and its people especially within and around areas of business operations. Most of the business enterprises in Kenya which were previously operating without institutional and individual capacity for environmental management now need to develop that capacity in order to ensure good environmental management and prevent expensive liabilities. Many enterprises require establishing environmental management systems (EMS) in order to ensure environmental security and maintain their operations within the existing environmental regulation.
