Report And Project Writing

COM 22: REPORT AND PROJECT WRITING
Duration: 5 DAYS
COST: Kshs. 30,000
Dates:

COURSE ABSTRACT:

The skills acquired here solve difficult writing problems - including at the World Bank, Kenya Office - going by the testimony on an official there.   Beginning with an overview of the phases a project goes through, the course then focuses on the reports that come out of each phase. How many phases an organization has depends on its tradition. But theoretically, about ten different phases are recognized. The typical ICT phasing seems to be settling at six. These divergences occur due to phase splits or mergers.   In spite of these differences, a water project and an ICT one are similar. Therefore, those working in these areas can learn the writing tasks together. Projects of educational institutions, ministries and industries also have a lot in common. Project writers in all these need the same skills.

COURSE OUTLINE:

To master the fundamentals of reporting the activities going on in a project, covering the following topics is essential.

   1. Communication in projects phase by phase.
   2. Project reporting communication models.
   3. Project research and communicating documented findings.
   4. Understanding report users and communication in projects.
   5. Project communication and organizational settings.
   6. Communication and project leadership
   7. Rhetoric of reporting and technical communication.
   8. Project communication and instruction writing.
   9. Technical editing of project documents.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Projects are pervasive i.e. they are everywhere. But project writers reporting to school boards, PTA officials, civil servants CDF managers, and industrial project writers and managers often, lack skills to present project reports effectively to their audience.   The course is suitable for anyone required to write a report, particularly in a project situation.
