EEM 01: RENEWABLE ENERGY AND BIOFUELS
This short-course showcases developments in renewable energy field, emphasizing the benefits and future of sustainable energy programs. Biofuels derived from plant resources are among the most rapidly growing renewable energy technologies in the world today. Future fuel needs can be supplemented with biofuel production from plant biomass and waste cooking oil to reduce reliance on imported petroleum diesel. The course focus is on biomass-derived biofuels, production technology (bioethanol production & biodiesel), testing, marketing, economics and global trends. The rising fuel pump prices, environmental concerns, energy security and new energy policy have created a strong interest and market for new and renewable sources of energy. As developed and developing countries seek investments in biofuels development programs, trained personnel in biofuels value chain, information on emerging trends worldwide, and networking opportunities are critical. This course is designed to meet this gap.
