COURSE ABSTRACT:

The course entails identifying hot spots, being able to pinpoint the entry points, recruit and group the women into peer-led systems.   The sex-workers are the empowered to protect themselves and their clients form HIV/AIDS that includes prevention, control, care and support across continuum.

Also gender and human rights issue will form part of the training and a subset of the women will need economic alternative education as well as provision of appropriate capital.

COURSE OUTLINE:

   1. Sensitize policy makers
   2. Principles of Hot Spot Mapping
   3. How to work with vulnerable populations (se-workers)
   4. Process of establishing peer-led system in HIV/AIDS education, care and support.
   5. Creation of linkages and referral network
   6. Skill building for sex-workers regarding condom negotiation, use and provision.
   7. Human rights and gender focusing on sex trade.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Project officers/Coordinators of community based interventions,   community mobilizers, Social   Health workers working   in HIV/AIDS research and intervention sectors.
